FAQ

General

You can reach Lily via the contact form, or text her at (250) 857-7506

You can find the open house postings on Lily’s Facebook page.

Alterations

I usually recommend starting alterations for your wedding gown about 8-10 weeks before your wear date, but booking them as soon as you have a wedding date. For bridesmaids and other formal gowns 4-6 weeks is more than enough time.

My fitting days and times are Monday’s and Tuesday’s between 2-7pm and Thursday’s between 12-5pm.

Through the contact form below, my fb page Lily Kennedy Custom Gowns, or via text to 250-857-7506. Expect a reply within 48 hrs during busy season.

You will need your dress, any undergarments that you plan to wear underneath, and your shoes.

Wedding gown fittings are booked for 30 minutes

Bridesmaid, grad, and other formal gown alterations are booked for 15 minutes

You will usually need 2 or 3 fittings depending on what needs to be altered on your gown. We will book the subsequent fittings as needed each time you’re here.

The cost depends on what needs to be done, but typically my alterations bills are $500-$800 for wedding gowns. I am not currently available to do bridesmaid dresses, but feel free to reach out to me for referrals.

I’m happy to give an approximate cost either at your first fitting, or if you’d like to send me a picture beforehand of your dress with a list of alterations you’ll need.

Generally, the bridal shop where you bought your gown will steam it for you for free. Just organize with them after our last fitting to have it done. If you aren’t able to have it done because you bought online, or from a shop out of town, I can definitely steam it and make it perfect before your wedding date- just confirm with me so I can expect and book the required time for you.

Yes, it’s $50 for steaming wedding gowns, and $20 for bridesmaid and formal gowns.

Custom Gowns

Depending on the design and detail, I usually like to have about 4-6 months minimum (but obviously longer is better) from start to finish.

The cost for custom gowns varies so much. If you send me a few pictures or inspo ideas I can give you a quote, and then when we meet for a free consult I can show you fabric choices, talk about details and give you the breakdown for labour/fabrics/pattern drafting and construction.

Once you decide to go ahead with a custom made gown, I require a deposit of half. I will sketch out your dress, take your true measurements, then draft a pattern. Approximately 3 weeks later you will come to try on a muslin (fake dress). At that point we can adjust or change anything and choose fabrics/lace etc. Then you come by for 4-6 fittings as I’m constructing your gown until it’s finished. The other half of payment is then due, and I will store your gown here or you can take it home. 6 weeks before your wedding date, you can come back, try it on again, and we can do any small tweaks or alterations it may need. I will steam your gown, and you can pick it up before your wedding date.

Nope I buy fabric wholesale from suppliers in Spain and France, and draft my own patterns custom fitted to your body. I have samples here for you to look through and touch.

I require a deposit of half once you decide to go ahead with having a custom gown created, and the remainder is due when the gown is completed.

Yes, I will make your dress look perfect and wrinkle free.

Consignment House

My consignment model is different than most others. I take an upfront fee of $60, you set your selling price, and keep the entire amount when it sells.

I don’t do private appointments. I host two open houses per month for 4 hours where you can pop by, look through, and try on any of the dresses I have for sale. I’m here during the open houses to answer any questions you might have regarding customizing or altering the gowns.

If you see a gown for sale online, shoot me a message with a picture of the specific gown, and I’ll be happy to set up a time for you to pop by, try it on, and if you decide to say YES we can chat about any alterations it may need.

I try to post the two dates per month on my fb page Bridal Consignment House by Lily Kennedy. Watch the page for any news, new dresses, and upcoming open house dates.

Nope, just pop by anytime during the hours I’m here.

I host two open houses per month, usually one Friday, and one Sunday.

Looking forward to meeting you, and happy planning!
